The Distillation Process: Fire, Water, and Copper
True attar is crafted through hydro-distillation in traditional copper stills called Degs:

The Harvest: Fresh Taif rose petals, crushed spices, or agarwood chips are placed inside copper vessels with pure water.

Slow Steam Distillation: Low wood fires heat the copper still, sending fragrant steam through bamboo pipes into a receiver containing pure sandalwood oil.

The Aging Cure: The oil blend is stored in leather bottles (Kuppi) to allow remaining moisture to evaporate, concentrating the aroma over several months.
